If your wireless is failing for no reason on your HP Pavilion DV6000 laptop, call HP before your warranty runs out. An HP tech admitted that 1 in 7 of them require motherboard replacement to fix the problem. Not a BIOS upgrade or drivers.

[UPDATE]It has now been released that the problem was possibly due to faulty heat handling on the NVidia G84 and G86 parts. The BIOS update, listed in the extended warranty, simply changes how the fan operates. That should give your product about enough time to function before the warranty runs out.

You should call HP to get your laptop serviced if your laptop is exhibiting the following behavior

  • Wireless device no longer recognized
  • Wireless switch doesn’t work
  • Wireless will not come back after shutting down or going into a sleep mode

The HP Pavilion DV6000 is a fairly popular laptop. Available at many retail outlets and online, it happens to be the one that I decided to purchase just under a year ago.

It’s a decent machine and the price was right. My particular model is a DV6436nr that I picked up at Best Buy. After removing Vista and installing Ubuntu, the laptop was running rather well. However, the wireless was spotty at best.

I assumed that it was due to the difficulties that can occur with wireless and Linux. I followed all of the guides and installed all the drivers. Yet for some reason, my wireless just seemed to be getting worse. Eventually, the device would only work when it felt like it. I decided to go ahead and install Windows XP and see if I could get it working in that OS. No dice. My laptop was still within warranty so I decided to start looking around to see if anyone else was having this problem.

It wasn’t long before I came across this lengthy thread at the HP site. In it, “Anna” from HP says that updating the BIOS will fix the problem:

“Hi, it’s Anna from HP Total Care,

I’m sorry some of you are having trouble with your wireless WLAN not detecting your wireless network and not displaying in your device manager. The issue appears to be affecting AMD based Dv6000, v6000 and Dv9000 notebooks running Microsoft Windows Vista.

We’ve got a BIOS update and some instructions on getting this resolved. If the BIOS update does not resolve the issue, please contact HP support and we will help facilitate a repair.

Please do not try replacing your wireless card or inserting a third party wireless modules as some have suggested here on this forum. This will not resolve the issue and is in violation of FCC regulations.

[…Instructions on how to install the BIOS update…]

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any further questions and we’ll work to respond personally or on the forum as best we can.

Anna”

This solution was garbage and yielded no results. The switch on the front was basically useless and the device simply was not being recognized any longer. Frustrated, I searched further and found that this is a much more prevalent problem than I originally thought. Even ZDNet posted an article about the failure.

I eventually called HP to get my laptop repaired. As indicated in other posts, the solution is a motherboard replacement.

Here’s the kicker: the customer service agent who helped me when I called HP said:

“Yea, there’s about 1 in 7 laptops that are affected. But, there’s no way to tell which ones they are and that’s not enough to do a recall.”

Wow. The worst part is: the problem is hard to diagnose due to the fact that the device only works half the time. Instead of it being a problem with the wireless, or the drivers, or the BIOS, it’s a problem with the motherboard.

I’ll admit: the repair process was painless. They sent me a box overnight with shipping labels and I had my laptop back in a week or so. But come on HP: if 1 in 7 devices are failing and it’s hard to detect, help the consumer out and let them know.

Until then however, you can call HP at 800-474-6836.

Does anyone know if they replace it with the exact same hardware? Since I read that it’s a defect of design, they would need to replace it with a piece of hardware designed differently in order for the exact same problem to not happen again.

If all they do is stick the same part in there and update the bios so that the machine runs a little differently, then the exact same problem will occur only it will wait until it is out of warranty to fail.

Someone please update this for us, do they put in a part that is designed better? Also, do they always swap out a working optical drive for a defective one?

My HP Pavilion DV6000 had intermittent problems from the time we got it last year. It got so hot we couldn’t touch it. Then beginning Dec. 28 it wont start up at all just beeps with blue lights then shuts down.

Called HP support and got notice that it was 8 days out of warranty and will cost $400 to replace motherboard.

They assure me that my product is not covered by the extended 24 month warranty. At this point I’d be satisfied to pull the hard drive. How can I recover the data from the drive? I’ve never replaced a laptop drive. Any suggestions are appreciated.

What is the ebay market like for used laptops with decent 15.4in screens and busted motherboards?

I called HP last night, I have had my pavillion dv6000 for 2 years and yes out of warranty used it fine yesterday morning then last night went to get on it and nothing but a black screen kept restarting itself. When I first got it I had to send it off because it would not find the wireless so they fixed that, this is so uncalled for from HP, they tell me it will not cost me anything because of the recall on the motherboard we will see. I had noticed the last little bit that it kept getting extremely hot its like the fan is not even working so i went and got one of the coolers to set it on to keep it cool. My problem is I can’t back anything up it gives me an error saying backup failed HP purchase and I agree wait until one is a year old that way all the bugs are worked out HOPEFULLY!!! Would appreciate any help.
Best wishes and best of luck to the rest of you and the ones to come.

HP dv6000 sucks big time. I got mine May 2007 running fine until of course the warrenty had expired. Ive had problems for the last few months with the screen freezing and no alternaltive but to switch it off. It started doing this more often then when switching back on the screen would be black and not do anything. Finally about two weeks ago when I was turning it on the screen remained blank and it bipped a couple of times. I called HP in saudi where I live and they said I need to back up hd and then call them back to reinstall everything. I went to a computer shop to see what they could do to salvage my hd. Luckily the hd was ok but the mother board was the problem. I left the laptop with the for a few days to see if it could be repaired. When I returned it was fixed due to the fact a mother board was unavailable in saudi and they had called hp to find out if they could get one from them and they said it wasnt available in saudi. COME ON HP DONT SELL A COMPUTER THAT YOU CANT GET PARTS FOR IN THE COUNTRY YOU SELL THEM. Also lost my wireless connection about a year ago I work in a compound that has IT service for home net and they blamed me for deleting my wireless connection so I had no idea until now that Hp knew there was an ongoing issue with wireless with hp laptops. After reading all the responses I dont think its worth getting it fixed I will buy a new laptop but NEVER EVER WILL BUY A HP AGAIN AND WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW NOT TO!!

  • Good post. Thanks for info!

After reading, I called HP regarding a dv6000 laptop exhibiting the WLAN issue (light always glowing amber). The machine was out of warranty, but I was told affected machines are still eligible for a “one-time service enhancement”. Before the tech offered to send out the box, they had me reseat the LAN card (located just beneath the center panel on the bottom of the machine, identified by two connecting wires). Now a box is on its way and should arrive in 2 business days.

Note: Before calling HP I tried flashing the BIOS to version F.3D, but it didn’t resolve the issue with the WLAN access.

It’s been awhile since i’ve use my desktop. I guest that’s a good thang. But, for the worse my hp pavillion dv6000 laptop wireless, cdrom/dvd slimtype, and internet modem connection isn’t working as of today. My laptop hp advisor says the connection is good, but theres no website connection so therefore it’s the laptop. My desktop get it’s connection. I had my dv6000 for 1yr/7mos. and now my baby is dead gone. I have no warranty now, but thinking of a repurchase. So to say: “I am in the river with all of you”. Drowning in hp failures. Once a year and seven months ago i felt Hp stood for “Happy People”. Now i say ” Having Problems”. I went to my system configuration file to see has any component failed, checked problem devices. I realized my motherboard wasn’t showing up. So i looked into my hidden component file and found it wasn’t working. Now i’m really “f” about it. I guess that explains everthing about it. But it isn’t over yet to say. I gets mines and hope you get yours also best of luck to use to be “Happy People” that’s “Having Problems”.

I purchased a DV6000 right after graduating from high school since I knew I’d need a laptop for college. This laptop is the biggest piece of crap I have ever owned and I would do anything to just get me $900 back. Within three months, the bearing on the fan had gone out, and HP customer service pretty much did me up the ass and then told me I was SOL. It says in my warranty that any HP dealer can fix my laptop — great, so I run it around to Circuit City, Best Buy, and a few local places. CC and BB tell me that they can’t fix it under my warranty, just ship it off. Local places? Wont TOUCH HP computers. I was fortunate enough to have a friend who is wonderful with computers, helped me find and order a new fan and heatsink and replaced it all for me. Oh, and HP wanted to charge $150+ for the heatsink and I got it for less than $25. Problem solved and it took less than an hour — which by the way HP quoted me one and a half to two months. I use the computer for school and work — I cannot be without it that long. Fan is fixed but the computer always has and always will run very, very hot. I’m not going anywhere near HP customer service ever again — the people I dealt with were either incredibly rude, didn’t speak english, or think that BIOS can fix everything. No thank you.

Now my wireless is failing and I don’t know what the heck to do. I’m not dealing with HP anymore. I’d kill to have my money back and give it all to another company — and my experience with them was so bad that I will never ever recommend HP to anyone ever again, if anything I will do my best to steer people away.

I have the same Wireless (not detected) issue as well. It has been going on for the past few months, and I just located the service enhancement page thanks to this site. (why doesn’t HP contact people who have purchased this system and are registered with them?). I just contacted them and they will be sending me a a repair package for this known issue and will repair it free of charge as detailed under the enhancement warranty.

I just hope they repair the board and don’t touch anything else (ie; lcd display, DVD, hard drive, etc..) I have heard horror stories about people getting their laptops repaired only to get a “repaired” system back that is full of refurbished garbage that was worse then what they sent their systems in for.

My only issue is the wireless, and I could easily use a usb wi-fi adapter ($40), but as others have stated that is only the first issue to start and the Motherboard is next to go, so I am sending this sucker in.

    I hope all goes well.

So this is the problem..i have had my dv6016, amd processor with the nvidia g-whatever 3D card..since november 06 with a one year international warranty. I purchased it in the middle east but have now moved back to australia, and it has given me one head ache after another. Firstly the wireless stopped working after 2 weeks, and so i contacted HP. By the time i took it to the service center, it had already started working so i let it be. 3 months after i moved down here, the wireless started acting up, but i found that turning it off for 20 mins set it right. It was only a month later, before a big exam of mine, i turned it on only to realize that monitor was not working. After connecting to an external monitor, i realized that the problem was worse. So i took it to a service center

So i took it to a service center and they said 14 working days. After 14 days, i called and they informed me that they had bought the wrong parts and needed to order more parts and another 14 days went by. It was finally fixed, and i took it home, only to see that, every time i turned it on, it turned of. Realizing that something was wrong with the fan, i took it back. They then informed me that they had installed it wrong, and after 3 more days i finally got it back. 10 months went by, now the laptop no longer under warranty, and i get the same issue again. This time i was back in the middle east on holiday. So i took to a sevice agent and again, they ordered parts, but said it was unavailable in the country and they had to order it. it took about 4 weeks but again i got it back. This time i payed $600 out of pocket. Now it is 26 months from the time i purchased it, and it has happend again. No screen blackout, but wireless dropping out and overheating. Over the last couple of months, my power on button has stopped working, so i turn it on by pressing the quikplay button and then clicking on the windows button. Also my sound stopped working. I have to always plug it in to an external speaker. The only way i connect to the internet is through an ethernet connection. Over the last couple of days when i play games, fifa 2009, every 10 to 15 mins, the computer freezes and nothing responds. Cant turn it off without pulling out the battery. The battery overheats and i have to use a heat mat because it is really really hot, and the battery life, a most 30 mins. The dvd drive is useless. Even the slightest of movement and the dvd drive pops out, so i have to set it on a table to watch a movie. SO MUCH FOR A LAPTOP. So now im going to call hp and see what they are going to do. I also have to call my brother, who is a lawyer, because legal action is how i am going to proceed if HP does not repair my laptop and reimburse my last repair, or give me a new laptop altogether. The thing is, after all this, i still love my laptop and would love to have it back in one piece, or better still, get my hands on one of those DVX machines..they are real sweet. I have checked, my laptop is on the list for eligability for free repair, but it is outside the stipulated 24 months.
Guys, all the best with your Dv laptops, hopefully HP realizes where it was wrong and does something about it.Cheers

I have a question–does anyone have trouble with the USB ports? Like everyone I’ve alked with HP but they say the dv6000 doesn’t have trouble with the USB ports, but the tech guy said the motherboard burned them up? HELP. With the economy in the shitter, you’d think HP would get some American’s working and help the American’s who bought their product. This India crap sucks!

  • Andrew

I got one for Christmas. What the heck? It randomly decides to disconnect me from the internet. It picks and chooses when it wants its wireless on. It’s a good computer and all, I am just very disappointed in its wireless capability. And can anyone help me get my webcam working?

  • Laura

My dv6000 just died during a back-up to an external hard drive. Apparently the hard drive is toast. I’ve just lost all of my work since my last back-up. I will never buy another HP product again. This machine is less than 2 years old. Poor quality and very slow.

  • Hi YES I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE REST, WIRELSS NOT WORKING ON MY HPDV6000 SERIES SOMETIHNG POS LAPTOP, IT STARTED WITH THE WIRELESS NOT WORKING SOMETIMES, THEN THE MOUSE PAD WOULD NOT SHOW THE CURSOR SOMETIMES ON THE SCREEN, AFTER ABOUT 3 DAYS AND 18 HOURS OF HP SUPPORT TRYIGN TO FIX THE PROBLEM BY ME FIXING IT , THEY AGREED TO FINALLY TAKE IT IN, NEVER ONCE EVER MENTIONED THE MOTHER BOARD PROBLEM TO ME , I BACKED UP MY FILES WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PROGRAMS , NEVER KNOWING THAT I WOULD LOSE IT ALL , WHEN I RECEIVED IT BACK I HAD LOST EVERYTHING . ALL I WANTED TRULY WAS MICROSOFT OFFICE REINSTALLED AND HP TOLD ME NO, IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO STILL HAVE MY OLD DISK . i CALLED CORPORATE AND TALKED TO AN EXECUTIVE AND HE SAID IT HAPPENS AND THERE IS NOTIHNG HE CAN DO FOR ME, AND AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DISCUSSIONS WITH HIM HE SAID HE DID NOT CARE IF I EVER BOUGHT ANOTHER HP PRODUCT OR NOT , WOW SOME WAY TO TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS RIGHT ? SO NEVER PURCHASE AN HP PRODUCT OF ANY SORT AS THEY WILL TREAT U THE SAME WAY

I got my HP Pavilion DV6000 for Christmas 2006. Never had a problem with it. Right before Christmas 2008, I got a virus. After a few days, it was cleared up but then the wireless went out. A few more tech savvy friends of mine tried to fix it over the course of the Christmas season but no luck. On 1/10/09, we started doing online research and found out about the HP issue and how they are fixing the problem. I contact HP through HP chat and gave them my serial number. They told me the offer for my notebook expired 1/1/09. WTF?! They basically told me sorry and that there was nothing they could do. They also pointed out I could pay them almost $300 for them to fix the problem. URGH. They said they sent out emails to registered customers but I never got one. I’m very pissed. Any suggestions? I’m currently looking at USB wireless adapters, but hate how far they stick out. :(

  • Renee

All the complaints but no solution……Same wireless problem too…HP wants $792.00 to repair…my laptop out of warranty and unable to receive free Enhancement Warranty from HP.

Yes the wireless adapters do solve the problem BUT stick out get in the way and mine BROKE!

Hello all, my name is Dennis and my sons laptop has a problem with the WLAN. We encountered this problem a few months after we purchased it. HP support had me reseed the WLAN, and it worked temporarily. The second time HP support had me reseed the card again, and once again a temporary fix. It happened a third time but lucky me, the warranty had expired. No they want me to purchase a 1yr phone support contract or for me to send it in for repair but I’ll get charged. I explained to them that is it a manufacturer deffect with many dv6000, and they should fix it for free but after two attempts, they have declined. HP, YOU SHOULD BE A SHAME OF YOURSELF FOR SELLING DEFFECTIVE EQUIPMENT. (My LG tv broke because of a manufacturer deffect with the power supply, and LG fixed it for free, even though my warranty was expired for a whole year). I do not have the money to send it in for repair, and my son is stuck with a broken laptop.
Just wanted to share my experiance with HP.

  • carlos

I fell the same way, what a shame HP!!!First, sent in first to fix video, now, won’t boot, quick play does not work, and i already sent twice to fix at Best Buy, they called me to deliver it as repaired, then contacted HP thru e mail, they asked me to pay $ 280.00 plus parts, what a heck, i just purchase another laptop ACER, NEVER BUY HP AGAIN!!!

  • Marsha

Same problems as everyone else. Purchased mine in 121/06. Started having problems Summer of 07. By Spring 08 it would turn on and shut off repeatedly, called got a free fix as offered by website. Box arrived, mailed it back to HP. It was returned within the week and worked great. 3 months later speakers won’t work, called HP and was told it was 3 days out of warranty for the free fix that was suppose to fix everything. I just decided to live with it since I mostly use headphones and that still worked. Jan 1, 09 internet (WLAN) icon disappears and I get kicked off. Call HP who is so sorry but I am past the extended warranty. I beg, plead, get s supervisor who is now gonna get me a case manager who will call me during the week.

Do I have a chance at getting this &^%$#Laptop fixed? I used it 2 years and 2 months. I will be a real pain and threaten to tell all my students in all my classes NEVER BUY HP unless they agree to repair their faulty merchandise. Will keep you posted.

  • Marsha

Just got a call from hp case manager. Extremely nice woman will be mailing my FedX box for me to return my laptop in today!!!

  • Thomas

Does anyone know why my HP DV 6409 US is not a part of the recall when my laptop has been sent to HP for repairs for the following symptoms:

-There is no video on the computer LCD panel or external monitor

-The external monitor functions but there is no image on the notebook LCD panel

HP has suggested on several occasiasons to update the BIOS and yet new problems occur. For example I have had to send the laptop in for repair two times for the hard drive to be replaced on separate occaisions. The second time the case manager asigned to my case accused me of intentionally damaging my computer and HP attempted to bill me $320.00 when I purchased an extended warranty 6 monthe earlier. This accusation only further delayed the return of a laptop with an additional problem.

When I was having problems with:

-There is no video on the computer LCD panel or external monitor

If I remember corectly they claimed it was some other problem, like the bios and that the laptop was fixed!

So now the HP DV 6409 US is possibly going on its FIFTH repair!

This is what has been repaired on the laptop:

-the lcd screen, and I am not sure why?

    -TWO hard drives

    -the speakers

Is anyone else having problems 4 times or more like myself and what should I expect HP to do about so many problems?

Why have’nt they replaced the motherboard on my laptop?

I am never going to buy another Hewlett Packard, I think it is time for a DELL or APPLE laptop!

    Thanks For Reading

    Thomas

Just got mu laptop back! Seems to be working fine!

  • i have a dv 6000, it got hit by virus. someone installed software and their was a problem with the lights on dash and sound.
i was told by hp aht it was due to corosion. i know i didnt spill water on this laptop and was not near water. they even sent me photos of some corosion on a part .. however i also doubted it was that . I got my laptop back unfixed as they said it would cost me 1081.00 dollars. that was even more insane. beyond economical repair. and when i got it back they damage key boards . it wont work . so that was bullshit to when they said they would not fix it. they held me up for a month. now it is not working in key board . however.. i reinstaled software all over correctly and the light came back on and all good with that. so hp is duping the public and corrupt. they LIED. i have not yet had problems iwth the lan.. but im afraid of what will come. my laptop is a year pluss and htey dont like to hold up to waranty.

Ok, so my dv6000 series laptop has the same wireless adapter problems. Worked for a while then stopped working all together. I went through all the same moves with software driver updates, bios update, etc. So here is the kicker… I ran a memory test on the laptop (memory diagnostic tool). When the memory test completed and the computer rebooted, the wireless adapter suddenly becomes live again after almost 6 months of coma. It works for about 3 restarts, then on the 4th restart, it dies again.
So riddle me this Batman, what the heck is going on?? Why did running the memory test bring it back and why did it suddenly crap out again?
    Hope this helps somone….

Mm pavilion dv6000 had the same problem since last night. I called HP service. They said it was motherboard prblem and could be replaced with $380. But he asked me to buy a new one with $150 discount.

Is there any class act lawsuit for this problem?

  • HG

I have a DV6000 and it hasn’t worked right since “day 1.” Mostly software issues (Vista) like not coming back from hybernation, or freezing up. I chatted with Microsoft for 53 minutes and they allegedly fixed the freezing problem…temporarily. I don’t have the time or energy to talk to someone around the world who is not going to help me so I left it alone because I can live with it. But now, the LAN magically dissappeared. It doesn’t show up in my device manager. Another 43 minutes spent, with HP this time, trying to figure out the problem. They had me flash the BIOS (because that is the answer to everything) and re-install the LAN’s drives. Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem. I’m hesitant to fight and send it in to HP because I’m out of warranty, and I don’t like to use the USB adapters because they’re cumbersome. I think I’ll go online and buy a new motherboard. I saw one here http://laptopparts.vivotechnology.net/items/item.aspx?itemid=796584 for $158.00, and I saw another one on eBay for $109.00. I hate to spend the money, especially after shelling out almost a grand on a new laptop, but I belive this is the cheapest, quickes fix. If you want to flash the BIOS, go here
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-562841&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3370282
and then you can get the drives here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-57604-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3370282
I’ll try it out and I’ll keep you all posted. Good luck to us all!

Echoing the bitter complaints, I was wondering if anyone else had an HP dv6565 laptop with these WLAN issues (my laptop also has an amber light instead of blue, saying WLAN is disabled when the heck it shouldnt be) After reading the extended warranty announcement http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01087277&lc=en&cc=us I happily *cough* found out that my product is NOT included in the extended warranty program although I have EXACTLY the problems described…..What complete BS!#!%^@*( Is there anyone else in this boat and is there any way to get it included in the warranty? I mean its a dv6000 for crap sakes – back up you products HP!!!

  • Shane

    Hello all,

Where to start? Well, ive had numerous issues with my HP Pavilion dv6000 (6058cl) and today marks the two year anniversary of owning this piece of crap! Thank god that i have not had any video issues, but instead, Ive encountered the wireless card issue. So like most, i contacted HP, and discovered this is a known motherboard issue. I too talked with a case manager who stated that im out of warranty by a few months and they would charge me to fix it. Why should we as customers have to pay for a manufacturer’s defective product? For example, if your neighbors child throws a rock and breaks your window, should you have to pay for this? Absolutely not! I ended up not sending it in for repair, but purchasing an exterior USB wireless adapter at Best Buy ( Ill explain later in the post).

I am an Best Buy employee (part-time) and i can guarantee you that i will warn all customers about HP products, customer support..etc because this is just ridiculous. I feel robbed from the company and will be expressing my feelings in a negative effect towards HP.

If your wireless adapter fails due to the motherboard, run down to Best Buy and purchase a USB wireless adapter BUT DO NOT USE THE CD, just just allow windows to search online and find the necessary divers for the adapter.

( What to do when you call HP) : If any of you call HP, demand to speak with a CASE MANAGER as that is the only person who can override the cost to make it free. Explain that it is their fault for this issue and that if they will not pay for it, you are willing to sue them. Sounds crazy but its the truth and explain that you are willing to take these extreme manners because you feel you purchased a KNOWN DEFECTIVE UNIT. If thousands of people are having this people, you could have a class action suit against them; plain and simple!

I end with this; HP = never again. look at others : Sony, Dell, and MAC :)

  • David

Had the same problem as all the complaints above. Hp actually fixed it twice and the second time my dv6000 was out of warranty but asked to speak to supervisior and was told fedex would ship a box overnight…had it back in less then a week. The motherboard was replaced twice but I’m happy to say hp was very nice and fixed my laptop asap. It’s been awhile now and my dv6000 is running like new. Good luck to you all and don’t give up on the first call…If I don’t like who’s speaking down to me I hang up and call again.

I contacted HP today 16MAR09. They told me that the extended warranty for this known issue is over as of Feb. 09. That I was basically out of luck. So I talked to a supervisor that said the same thing. My issue is that if they do not notify anyone of this issue and we have to find out on our own how can the extended warranty to cover this issue have an end date. Not cool and I will not purchase another HP product.

DV 6095EA – HP Laptop bought Sept 06
I’m having same problems, 1st wouldn’t come out of hibernate, then wireless went -now can’t even get anything on screen for 3 months.
HP said outside 2 year extended warrenty and go back to seller (Comet UK).
Various problems with COMET who will only take approx £70 off a repair bill : leaving me with £200 to pay if I want it fixed. I could by another non HP Notebook for nearly same price!!
I thinking of going to Small Claims Court for redress – has anybody else gone to court. please let me know. Cheers

Go to moneyclaimonline.co.uk for small claims.. its takes littel long but works for sure….

I WILL NOT BUY ANY HP PRODUCT ANYMORE!!!

Same problem here. DV6000 series notebook (DV6189eu). Wireless has gone first, then the notebook do not boot up, restarts over and over again with no display on the screen. We sent it to service, and HP said that they changed the mobo. At first, we were happy with the quick service. But then we realized that they changed the mobo with another broken mobo since the same problem occurred after 1 week.
Calling the service here in Turkey, HP tells us that it is out of warranty, and if you want to fix it, you have to pay.

I WILL NOT BUY ANY HP PRODUCT ANYMORE!!!

They do not manufacture anything, they just buy products and assemble. The RAM inside is a Samsung, HDD is a Toshiba etc.. HP should be nothing but a service company. And the reason behind buying an HP is their service quality. However, I see that they cannot even manage to provide a high quality service.

I WILL NOT BUY ANY HP PRODUCT ANYMORE!!!
