The Kucinich camp has introduced another article of impeachment against the President of the United States of America.

Kucinich released a letter to his colleagues which asked the following of them:

“This Thursday evening I will bring a privileged resolution to the House with a single Article of Impeachment of President Bush for taking our nation and our troops to war based on lies. We owe it to our troops who even at this hour stand as sentinels of America because they love this country and will give their lives for it. What are we willing to do to match their valor and the valor of their successors? Are we at least willing to defend the Constitution from the comfort and security of our Washington, DC offices?”

The President is being accused of:

“Deceiving Congress with fabricated threats of Iraq WMDs to fraudulently obtain support for an authorization of the use of military force against Iraq.”

The article has been introduced and as of this writing, it is being voted upon to refer to the judiciary committee. (42-34 with 5:00 minutes left) (51-52 with 3:00 left) (59-64 with 2:00 left) (70-77 with 1:00 left) (77-80 with :30 left) (85-83 00:10 left)

SUCCESS!!! – (238 – 180) The Senate Judiciary Committee will review the article of impeachment. Oh my gosh, we might get to see justice after all.

If 30+ reasons weren’t enough… maybe one solid reason will be.

  • This is a bone thrown to those hounding the traitor Pelosi. She made this deal of a single count ALLOWED to go forward by Kucinich if he will cease the remainder. So enjoy this while you can. The fix is in as it always has and alway will. This will go nowhere and will quietly be swallowed up in time for Nancy and the rest of the Washington Party to get reelected– which is the ONLY concern. Not gas costs. Not grocery costs. Not failing banks. Not soon failing pensions. Reelection of the single party system.

  • Small steps are needed to create change. Whether or not it gets “swallowed up,” at least it is being recognized.

Giving up is giving in. If there is even the slightest hope of bringing George W. Bush or any of his administration before a court with higher power than their own, then I will stand behind it.

I am not implying that impeachment will bring about sudden, massive, change either. But being able to hold someone accountable for the million+ Iraqis and thousands of soldiers from around the world who have died is a necessary step in changing our view of the world and the view of the world upon us.

  • While I agree that we are, currently, stuck in a fascist nation, it does not mean that attempting to utilize the system to create change is out of the question nor should it be stopped/ignored.

Subversion from within (occasionally by the rules on the books) is usually a necessary component of major shifts in the government of a country; either subversion from within or war against the ruling party. The second option is hardly feasible considering the might of the U.S. military. However, if you feel you have the resources to go to war against the government, then by all means.

Also, you aren’t telling me so about anything. I never said that impeachment would occur, simply that it was moving on to a step of being reviewed by the Senate Judiciary Committee. The prior attempt from Kucinich didn’t even make it that far.

It’s impossible to be optimistic underneath a veil of fear.

  • I hate to say I told you so…well, no I don’t:

You are being played and you want to provide some excuse of “small steps?!” We are way, way beyond small steps in this fascist state. Whether it is the GOP or the Democrats providing the Koolaid, the first small step is to stop drinking. Then see them for two wings of the same chicken.
